Beth & Andrew
Moving is almost always bittersweet. When the Gioias purchased 856 N 25th Street, they bought a nicely rehabbed home with lovely finishes but few bells and whistles.
Ten years later and the house has become a home. Industrial shelving, modern, comfortable furnishings and personal touches don the beautifully styled rooms. Artfully hand painted kitchen cabinets with bright white upper cabinets and a cool grey below make the kitchen the perfect spot for a family gathering.
Special touches like the installation of a reclaimed barn door for a closet that Andrew made himself add warmth and a cozy farmhouse vibe. The third story deck with sweeping city views is where morning cups of coffee and evening entertaining with friends have taken place. Most importantly, 856 N 25th Street is where Beth and Andrew Gioia brought their son home from the hospital.
“We love the neighborhood and will miss our friends here and how nice all of our neighbors are — it truly feels like a community, especially on our block.”
Beth and Andrew will miss sitting outside on the front steps talking to their neighbors and friends while they waited for the hot summer sun to settle. It was always such a joy for their family to live within such close proximity to Philly favorites like the many Art Museums, Boathouse Row, and even Center City, which is walkable from their house.
“We’ll miss Vince, our mail carrier and Norm, our UPS carrier, and the convenience of being able to walk everywhere we need to go whether it be for groceries, dinner, or dog grooming.” By being able to walk around so much over the years the Gioias were able to witness the special transformation of Girard Ave and nearby streets as new restaurants and developments continue to pour in and enrich their community.
Some of their favorite neighborhood hot spots include Angelinos, which sits across the street a stone’s throw away. “It is a great family run Italian BYOB, which might have the best pizza in the city, the take-out is fast and they sometimes do live music.” For days you want to catch a soccer game, head over to Black Taxi or Hickory Lane for a scrumptious brunch with outdoor seating, perfect for people watching.
We can’t forget about their sweet Maggie.
