If you own property in Philadelphia and it is your primary residence, you are eligible for the Homestead Exemption on your Real Estate Tax.

Starting in 2020, most homeowners will typically save about $620 a year on their Real Estate Tax bill. It works by reducing the taxable portion of your property assessment. In effect for 2020 Real Estate Tax bills, the assessed value of the property is reduced by $45,000 when you get Homestead.

Once your application is accepted, you never have to reapply for Homestead. You will receive property tax savings every year, as long as you continue to own and live in the property.

You can fill out the online application, or print one of the application forms and send them by mail to:

City of Philadelphia
Department of Revenue
PO Box 52817
Philadelphia, PA 19115
